VENEERS
What are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shell-like restorations that are designed to cover the front surface of the teeth to improve your smile. They are made to match the color of your teeth, so they will be virtually undetectable and incredibly natural.
Veneers are used to fix different types of concerns, including:
Discolored teeth
Teeth that are chipped or broken
Teeth that are worn down
Misaligned teeth
Gaps between teeth
Who is a Good Candidate for Veneers?
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth due to any of the above issues, you may be a good candidate for dental veneers. However, a consultation appointment with Dr. Kumar is the best way to determine if veneers can solve your aesthetic concerns.
What to Expect
How Long do Veneers Last?
CONSULTATION:
The process of receiving dental veneers usually involves multiple appointments a few weeks apart. We will start with a consultation that includes photos, impressions, and evaluation of the bite, and any necessary x-rays. An integral part of the process is communication. We will discuss what you are looking to improve and change, and establish expectations and likely outcomes of treatment. We will gain a better understanding of your aesthetic goals and any limitations to treatment.
TEMPORARY PHASE:
The consultation phase will also help us establish our temporary phase. Temporary veneers will maintain esthetics while the permanent veneers are being fabricated. We can use this temporary phase to fine tune the esthetics.
INSERTION & CEMENTATION:
Once the veneers are ready to be placed, Dr. Kumar will temporarily place it on your tooth to check for fit and color. We will have the opportunity to assure that our patient is satisfied with the esthetics and assure good occlusion. Your tooth will then be cleaned, polished, and etched, and a resin cement will be used to place the veneer on your tooth/teeth. A special light will be used to harden the veneer into place. Finally, any excess cement will be removed, and your bite will be rechecked to ensure your comfort.
Dental veneers usually last between 10-15 years, after which they may need to be replaced. With good oral hygiene practices, you should be all smiles for years to come!
